📍Springfield, Missouri, USA
1964 – 1982“Brad Pitt was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, in December 1963, and as a baby moved with his family to Springfield, Missouri, a city in the Ozarks, which he has described as Mark Twain and Jesse James country, with lots of hills and lots of lakes. His father, Bill, ran a trucking company, and his mother, Jane, was a school counsellor. He grew up as the eldest of three children, with a younger brother, Doug, and sister, Julie, in a close, conservative Southern Baptist family. He was an outdoorsy, popular boy who spent his summers swimming in the lakes, camping and exploring the Ozark countryside,. At Kickapoo High School he was on the golf, swimming and tennis teams, joined the debate and forensics clubs, and sang and acted in school musicals. He has said that his upbringing gave him a sense of decency and hard work, though he later questioned the strict faith he was raised in. In 1982 he went to the University of Missouri to study journalism. Two weeks before graduating, he packed his car and drove to Los Angeles, where he worked odd jobs, including dressing up as a chicken for a restaurant, while taking acting classes. His breakthrough came with Thelma & Louise in 1991, and he went on to become one of the most famous actors in the world, winning an Oscar for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. When he came home in 1998 to open Meet Joe Black, he told the crowd that Springfield was his home and the place that shaped him, and Kickapoo High still takes pride in its famous former student.”
