📍3901 Henry Avenue, East Falls, Philadelphia, PA 19129
1929 – 1950“I grew up in East Falls, a neighbourhood of Philadelphia, in the large stone house of the Kelly family — my father Jack was a self-made millionaire and Olympic gold medallist in rowing who was the most difficult man in the world to please. My brother Jack Jr was a champion rower; my sister Peggy was an actress before me. I was the quiet one, the overlooked one, and I pursued acting partly to find attention that the Kelly household distributed unevenly. East Falls gave me the composure that became my screen persona — the Grace Kelly coolness was the composure learned by a child who had to earn every scrap of recognition in a family of achievers.”
