📍Indian Hills, Louisville, Kentucky, USA
1990 – 2004“Jennifer Lawrence was born in August 1990 and grew up in Indian Hills, a quiet, wooded suburb north-east of Louisville, Kentucky. Her father, Gary, owned a construction company, and her mother, Karen, ran a summer camp, where Jennifer spent her summers outdoors. She was the youngest of three, with two older brothers, Ben and Blaine, and her mother raised her to be as tough as the boys; she played softball, field hockey and basketball, on a boys' team coached by her father, and rode horses. She has said she did not enjoy much of her childhood: she was hyperactive and anxious, felt like a misfit at Kammerer Middle School in Louisville, and found it hard to fit in. But on stage, in church plays and school productions, her anxiety vanished, and she felt for the first time that she was good at something. Her family was close, funny and down-to-earth, and Kentucky's farms, horses and big family gatherings gave her the plain-speaking, unpretentious character she is known for. In 2005, when she was fourteen, she persuaded her parents to take her to New York to meet talent agencies, and there a talent scout spotted her. She graduated from high school two years early to pursue acting, moving to Los Angeles. Her breakthrough came with Winter's Bone in 2010, followed by The Hunger Games, and in 2013 she won an Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook. She remains proud of her Kentucky roots and has often returned to Louisville.”
