MrBeast

📍Greenville, North Carolina, USA

“Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, was born in Wichita, Kansas, in May 1998, and after some early moves, he grew up mainly in Greenville, North Carolina, a university and farming city in the flat, green country of eastern North Carolina. His parents divorced when he was young, and he and his older brother, CJ, were raised by their mother, Sue, who later helped run his business. He played baseball and basketball as a boy and into high school and was a keen, competitive kid. At eleven he began posting gaming videos on YouTube, and at fifteen he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, a chronic condition that forced him to give up sport and changed his life; he has spoken about losing a lot of weight and having to follow a strict diet. Instead, he poured his energy into YouTube, studying what made videos successful and working obsessively with a small group of friends from Greenville. He went to Greenville Christian Academy, graduating in 2016. He briefly enrolled at East Carolina University but dropped out to make videos full-time. In 2017 his video of himself counting to 100,000 went viral, and his ever-bigger stunts and giveaways made him the most-subscribed creator on YouTube. He has stayed in Greenville, building his studios and businesses there, employing many local people and funding charity projects, and he has made the town the headquarters of a global entertainment brand.”
