1988 – 2006“Stephen Curry was born in Akron, Ohio, in March 1988, and when he was a baby his father, Dell Curry, was chosen by the new Charlotte Hornets in the NBA expansion draft, so the family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, a fast-growing banking city of leafy suburbs. His mother, Sonya, a former volleyball player, founded and ran a Christian Montessori school near Lake Norman, which Stephen and his siblings, Seth and Sydel, attended. The family was devout, close and competitive. Stephen grew up around the Hornets, shooting at the arena before games and watching his father, one of the league's best shooters. He and Seth played endless games on the hoop at home, and his father taught him to shoot, rebuilding his shooting motion when he was a teenager. When Dell played for the Toronto Raptors, the family spent part of Stephen's early teens in Canada, where he led the Queensway Christian College team to an unbeaten season. Back in Charlotte he went to Charlotte Christian School, but he was small and skinny, and big colleges overlooked him. He went to Davidson College, a small college near Charlotte, where he led the team on a famous run to the Elite Eight in 2008. With the Golden State Warriors he became the greatest shooter in basketball history, winning four NBA championships and changing how the game is played. He has often credited his parents' faith and his mother's insistence on schoolwork and good character.”
