2004 – 2009“Taylor Swift spent her first years on Pine Ridge Farm, an eleven-acre Christmas tree farm in Cumru Township outside Reading, Pennsylvania, before the family moved to Wyomissing. She sang at local fairs, karaoke contests and sporting events, and after watching documentaries about Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks and LeAnn Rimes she decided Nashville was where she needed to be. At eleven she went door to door on Music Row with a demo CD and came home without a deal. At fourteen her parents made a bold choice: they moved the family to Hendersonville, a lakeside suburb north of Nashville, so she could chase it properly. She went to Hendersonville High School, wrote songs about the boys and friendships around her, and spent afternoons in writing rooms on Music Row, becoming the youngest songwriter Sony/ATV had ever signed. Many of the songs on her first two albums were written in those Hendersonville years. She has since written about her farm childhood in Christmas Tree Farm, and the move south remains the hinge of her story.”
