📍30 Camden Square, London NW1 9XA, England
2005 – 2011“I moved to Camden Square in north London in 2005, into a terraced house that I filled with music and friends and the particular chaos of a life lived entirely at full volume. Camden was my neighbourhood in every sense — the market, the pubs, the canal, the whole scene that had grown up around the music that I loved and was part of. I could walk to the Good Mixer and the Dublin Castle and feel like a person rather than a celebrity, because Camden had always been a place where musicians were just part of the furniture. I wrote Back to Black in that house, sitting at the piano in the front room with the curtains drawn, and the sadness and the beauty of that album came directly from the walls of that street and the life I was living there.”
