📍Chingford, London E4, UK
1993 – 2009“Harry Kane was born in Walthamstow, east London, in July 1993, and as a small boy moved with his parents, Pat and Kim, and his older brother, Charlie, to Chingford, a leafy suburb on the edge of Epping Forest. His father ran a garage business, and his mother worked as a dental receptionist. He was a Tottenham fan from the start, and his idol was David Beckham, who had grown up in the same suburb. At six he joined Ridgeway Rovers, Beckham's old youth club, where he played in goal and as a striker. At eight he joined Arsenal's academy, but after a year he was released, with the academy judging him a little chubby and not very athletic. He went back to Ridgeway Rovers, determined to prove them wrong. He went to Larkswood Primary and then Chingford Foundation School, Beckham's old school, and when Beckham visited and Harry, aged about twelve, posed for a photograph with him, he was inspired. He had trials at Tottenham and Watford, and when he played well for Watford against Tottenham, Spurs signed him at eleven. He came through the Tottenham academy, slowly, and spent time on loan at smaller clubs, before making his breakthrough in 2014. He became Tottenham's and England's all-time leading goalscorer, captained England, and won the World Cup Golden Boot in 2018. In 2023 he moved to Bayern Munich. His old school and Ridgeway Rovers proudly tell children about the boy who was released by Arsenal and never gave up.”
