📍2 Rue de la Basilique, 88630 Domrémy-la-Pucelle, Vosges, France
1412 – 1431“I was born in Domremy, a small village on the Meuse river in the duchy of Bar, in a stone farmhouse that still stands. I grew up spinning wool and tending cattle, a girl of the fields and forests, and it was in those fields that I first heard the voices of Saint Michael, Saint Catherine and Saint Margaret, telling me I must drive the English from France and see the Dauphin crowned at Reims. I left Domremy at seventeen and never truly came home. Within two years I had rallied the French army, lifted the siege of Orleans, and stood at the side of Charles VII as he was crowned king. Then I was captured, sold to the English, and burned at Rouen. I was nineteen years old.”
