📍Großer Hirschgraben 23–25, 60311 Frankfurt am Main, Germany
1749 – 1775“The house on Großer Hirschgraben was rebuilt entirely by my father in the year of my birth — he spent three years on the renovation as if preparing a stage for my arrival. My bedroom on the top floor faced south; from there I watched the town move below me and began composing verse before I fully knew what verse was. Frankfurt gave me language, family, and the early ambition that took me to Weimar and never brought me back.”
