📍Chingford, London, United Kingdom
1967 – 1992“Jonathan Paul Ive was born in Chingford, on the edge of Epping Forest in north-east London, in February 1967. His father, Mike Ive, was a silversmith who taught design and technology and later became a senior adviser on design education, and he encouraged his son's interest in how things were made, taking him to visit design studios and helping him in the workshop. The family later moved to Stafford in the Midlands, where Jony went to school. He studied industrial design at Newcastle Polytechnic, winning awards for his student work, and after graduating worked at the London design consultancy Tangerine, where one of his clients was Apple. He joined Apple in California in 1992, became head of industrial design, and worked with Steve Jobs on the iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad.”
