📍Ibrox, Glasgow G51, UK
1965 – 1969“Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish was born in Dalmarnock, in the east end of Glasgow, in March 1951, the son of an engineer, and grew up in Milton, in the north of the city, in a flat with a view over the Rangers training ground. His father took him to Rangers matches from an early age, and Kenny grew up a devoted Rangers fan. At about fourteen, the family moved to a new tower block in Ibrox, in the docklands of Govan, right beside Ibrox Park, the Rangers stadium, which he could see from his window. He went to Milton Bank Primary School, where he started out in goal, and then to High Possil Senior Secondary School. He was soon one of the best young players in Glasgow, winning the Scottish Cup with Glasgow Schools and playing for the Scotland schoolboys team that went unbeaten in the Victory Shield. He had trials at West Ham and Liverpool in 1966, but neither came to anything, and to his disappointment, Rangers, his own club, never asked him to sign. Instead, Celtic's manager, Jock Stein, sent his assistant, Sean Fallon, to the family flat in Ibrox, and Kenny rushed upstairs to take down his Rangers posters before Fallon came in. He signed for Celtic in 1967, and won four league titles with them before joining Liverpool in 1977. There he won three European Cups and became the club's player-manager, winning the double in 1986, and remains one of the most loved figures in Liverpool's history. He has said that the Rangers boy from Ibrox never had any trouble giving his heart to Celtic and then to Liverpool.”
