📍Jas de Bouffan, Route des Milles, 13090 Aix-en-Provence, France
1839 – 1906“I was born Paul Cézanne on the 19th of January 1839 in Aix-en-Provence, the son of a banker. Aix was my home and my subject for life — the Sainte-Victoire mountain that I painted over sixty times, the quarry of Bibémus, the Jas de Bouffan estate. I went to Paris repeatedly and returned repeatedly. I worked alone in Aix in my final decades, building toward a vision of nature's underlying structure that Picasso and Braque took as their starting point. I died in Aix in 1906 after collapsing in the field during a painting session.”
