📍Sherwood Content, Trelawny, Jamaica
1986 – 2004“Usain St. Leo Bolt was born in August 1986 in Sherwood Content, a small village in the hills of the parish of Trelawny, in northern Jamaica, and grew up there with his brother, Sadiki, and sister, Sherine. His parents, Wellesley and Jennifer Bolt, ran the village grocery store. As a boy he played cricket and football in the street with his friends, often using home-made balls, and he went to Waldensia Primary School. At William Knibb Memorial High School, in nearby Falmouth, his cricket coach noticed his speed and encouraged him to try track and field, and the former Olympic sprinter Pablo McNeil helped coach him. In 2002, at fifteen, he won the 200 metres at the World Junior Championships in Kingston, becoming the youngest world junior gold medallist. He went on to win eight Olympic gold medals and set the world records in the 100 and 200 metres.”
