1994 – 2008“Justin Drew Bieber was born in London, Ontario, in March 1994, and grew up in Stratford, a small city in south-western Ontario best known for its Shakespeare festival. His mother, Pattie Mallette, was eighteen when he was born and raised him largely on her own, and money was tight. He taught himself piano, drums, guitar and trumpet as a boy, played hockey with his friends, and busked on the steps of Stratford's Avon Theatre. In 2007, at twelve, he entered a local singing competition and came second, and his mother posted videos of him singing on YouTube so family could watch. In 2008 the talent manager Scooter Braun came across one of the videos by chance and flew him to Atlanta, where he met Usher and signed a record deal. Within two years he was one of the most famous young singers in the world.”
