📍Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
1975 – 1995“Michael Bublé was born in September 1975 in Burnaby, a suburb just east of Vancouver, British Columbia, the eldest child and only son of Lewis, a salmon fisherman, and Amber, a homemaker; his two younger sisters are Brandee and Crystal. He grew up in a close Italian-Canadian family in a comfortable suburban home, going to Seaforth Elementary and Cariboo Hill Secondary School, and like most Canadian boys he was obsessed with hockey; he played whenever he could and went to Vancouver Canucks games with his father. The great musical influence of his childhood was his grandfather, Mitch Santaga, a plumber who had emigrated from near Treviso in Italy. Mitch loved the old songs of Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald and the Mills Brothers, and he played them to his grandson for hours. Michael fell in love with the music his friends thought was old-fashioned. From the age of fourteen he spent his summers working on his father's commercial salmon boat off the coast of British Columbia, gruelling work that he later described as the hardest physical labour he would ever do, and that convinced him he wanted a life in music. His grandfather paid for singing lessons and traded plumbing work with local club owners in exchange for stage time for Michael, who began singing in Vancouver clubs at sixteen. After years of performing in clubs, cruise ships and talent contests, he met the producer David Foster, and his first major-label album came out in 2003. His crooning versions of jazz standards made him one of the world's best-selling singers, and he still lives in the Vancouver area, a devoted Canucks fan.”
