📍Kitsilano, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
1976 – 1994“Ryan Reynolds was born in Vancouver in October 1976 and grew up in Kitsilano, a leafy neighbourhood of wooden houses on the south shore of English Bay, with beaches, a big outdoor pool and views of the mountains across the water. He was the youngest of four boys in an Irish Catholic family; his mother, Tammy, worked in retail, and his father, Jim, was a strict, demanding man. Several of his older brothers grew up to be police officers, one of them in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. As the youngest of four boisterous brothers, he learned early that humour was a way to survive and to stand out, and he has said his quick wit was a defence mechanism. He has also spoken openly about growing up with anxiety, and about his complicated relationship with his father. He spent his childhood at the beach, the community pool and Kitsilano's parks, and at thirteen, after an open casting call, he landed a role in a Canadian teen soap opera, Hillside, filmed in Florida. He graduated from Kitsilano Secondary School in 1994, briefly studied at Kwantlen College and formed an improv group, before moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting. After years of television and comedy roles, he found global fame as Deadpool in 2016. He co-owns Wrexham football club in Wales and has never lost his love for Vancouver, where he often returns to film and visit family.”
